Routing through v6-upstream stops at tinet
[ch] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 25 September 2012 08:15:16
I have trouble reaching v6 enabled websites like www.mozilla.com or www.spamcop.net since 10-14 days. Source is 2001:1620:f00:3c::2 Traceroutes show that packets stop at/after tinet. Maybe someone could look into that issue. traceroute6 2620:101:8008:5::2:7 traceroute to 2620:101:8008:5::2:7 (2620:101:8008:5::2:7), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets 1 gw-61.zrh-02.ch.sixxs.net (2001:1620:f00:3c::1) 22.955 ms 22.912 ms 22.896 ms 2 2001:1620:2005:4::2 (2001:1620:2005:4::2) 23.425 ms 23.671 ms 23.735 ms 3 2001:1620:2005:4::1 (2001:1620:2005:4::1) 30.739 ms 30.791 ms 30.589 ms 4 r1zrh1.core.init7.net (2001:1620:2::49) 25.107 ms 25.346 ms 25.409 ms 5 ae0-12.zur11.ip6.tinet.net (2001:668:0:3::5000:11) 46.185 ms 46.174 ms 46.204 ms 6 xe-5-0-0.mil21.ip6.tinet.net (2001:668:0:2::1:2972) 52.742 ms xe-3-2-0.mil21.ip4.tinet.net (2001: 01:668:0:2::1:20e1) 50.609 ms traceroute6 2001:2030:0:b::d9d4:ee29 traceroute to 2001:2030:0:b::d9d4:ee29 (2001:2030:0:b::d9d4:ee29), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets 1 gw-61.zrh-02.ch.sixxs.net (2001:1620:f00:3c::1) 38.367 ms 37.955 ms 37.502 ms 2 2001:1620:2005:4::2 (2001:1620:2005:4::2) 37.254 ms 36.816 ms 36.913 ms 3 2001:1620:2005:4::1 (2001:1620:2005:4::1) 39.056 ms 38.607 ms 38.287 ms 4 r1zrh1.core.init7.net (2001:1620:2::49) 37.627 ms 37.185 ms 36.759 ms 5 ae0-12.zur11.ip6.tinet.net (2001:668:0:3::5000:11) 44.711 ms 44.945 ms 44.759 ms 6 xe-4-3-0.mil21.ip6.tinet.net (2001:668:0:2::1:2962) 51.309 ms 100.205 ms xe-5-0-0.mil21.ip6.tine 7 * * *

Would need a traceroute from the remote site to figure out where this goes wrong, might on both paths.

The problem is that the remote place are websites like www.mozilla.net I can't run a traceroute from there. Maybe Init7 could forward the request to the upstream?

Neither can we. www.spamcop.net is located at Akamai and thus depending on your DNS, latency and various other factors the destination address will change, which currently means that the destination is 2001:620:2040::c3b0:ff90 which is located at SWITCH apparently, though from a different Swiss source I end up at 2001:918:ffc8:ffff::c1f7:a668 which is at IP-Plus (Carrier portion of Swisscom).
