PoP no longer pings tunnels, reporting tunnel downtime
[si] Carmen Sandiego on Monday, 30 June 2008 12:44:08
Name: Andrej Ota (AO1377-RIPE) Tunnel: T8493, T12325 I have been notified about tunnel downtime for tunnels T8493 and T12325. After investigating the issue, I have determined the following: - Both ingress and egress IPv6 traffic are flowing as expected. There are no observable problems with connectivity. - From 00:19 UTC when I started tcpdump capture, up to 05:00 UTC when I finished it, there were no ICMP ECHO packets coming from PoP. - Firewalls are not in use, thus they can not interfere with the traffic. - Even multicast was still working as expected. As this happened on two separate locations on two separate ISPs, I think this might be a problem on the PoP side, as there are no other indications of other errors. My guess is that PoP stopped sending ICMP ECHO probes, which caused invalid "Tunnel Downtime" reports. Sincerely, Andrej Ota AO1377-RIPE
