Hi, in this days I was connected to ircnet and my connection was killed. Then I have read in the sixxs web site: "Due to repeated abuse from Italian users we unfortunately had to make the decision that Italian users are not given any access to IRCnet any more". Why? I haven't maked abuse... I only test ipv6 protocol for educational purpose... (I'm university student). I have read that all other users are allowed access on irc.ipv6.xs4all.nl and irc.snt.ipv6.utwente.nl, if they have a working subnet and tunnel and more than 50M ISK. And currently I have 79 ISK! Can I connect to IRCNet via another irc server? Can you help me please? Thanks! Christian

You maybe don't. But unfortunately way too many others did and are causing too many problems. As such, no more access to IRCnet for Italians. That was a hard decision to make, but it is a much better solution to all this abuse. You can happily use IRCnet over IPv4. What kind of "educational purposes" can IRC be used for anyway?

I have read and followed the "Reporting Problems" section on the Contact page and am providing the following details for this report based on the list of items stated there: excuse me but that sounds quite unfair to me. What are all the membership policies, controls, phone numbers required, no freemail accounts, manual cheks of the informations provided for anyway if you just block ALL italian SIXXS users access to IRCNET via ipv6 due to some of these users making some abuse? Why don't you, sixxs staff, just close those accounts responsible of those abuses instead of punishing all of us, including me and many others like me who have always behaved according to the SIXXS rules? I think you have all the technical possibilities to investigate and find out exactly wich accounts are to be closed because of misbehaviour such as IRCNET abuse. Those guys will happily keep on abusing on IRCNET through some other ipv6 tunnel broker while the rest of us can continue enjoyng all the amazing possibilities SIXXS is offering for free. This is just my point of view, thanks anyway for the great work you guys are doing. Stefano

The problem is that the ISPs that these users are using are not taking responsibility. As such there are two things we can do: 1) block those ISPs completely 2) block IRCnet, which is the problem being caused.
Why don't you, sixxs staff, just close those accounts responsible
of those abuses instead of punishing all of us, including me and

They get closed immediately and indefinitely. You can use IRCNet perfectly fine already using your own IPv4 connectivity, so what is the problem?

Finding the account is easy. Getting the ISP who that user is connected to to also resolve the problem at their side isn't. Note for instance Fastweb, which is sharing several hundreds of users behind the same public IPv4 address. It directly is impossible to find them (they claim).
Those guys will happily keep on abusing on IRCNET through some other ipv6
tunnel broker
Indeed the people will abuse IRCNet using other means, but at least that is not our problem any more.
while the rest of us can continue enjoyng all the amazing
possibilities SIXXS is offering for free.
You can still use everything else. IRC is not the only thing you can do with IPv6. If that really is your only use, then you are definitely in the wrong place.
