Tunnel Down?
[nz] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 20 October 2007 06:08:30
Hi, I have received two messages in the last few days from tunnelrobot informing me that my tunnel is down. However I can ping ipv6 hosts without issues through my tunnel and the hosts are reachable from the rest of the world. shapeshifter ~ # ping6 2001:4428:200:1::1 PING 2001:4428:200:1::1(2001:4428:200:1::1) 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=36.6 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=42.4 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=37.5 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=36.7 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=40.1 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=38.1 ms 64 bytes from 2001:4428:200:1::1: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=45.4 ms --- 2001:4428:200:1::1 ping statistics --- 7 packets transmitted, 7 received, 0% packet loss, time 6001ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 36.624/39.599/45.498/3.089 ms shapeshifter ~ # ping6 paperboy.nysernet.org PING paperboy.nysernet.org(paperboy.nysernet.org) 56 data bytes 64 bytes from paperboy.nysernet.org: icmp_seq=1 ttl=48 time=450 ms 64 bytes from paperboy.nysernet.org: icmp_seq=2 ttl=48 time=427 ms 64 bytes from paperboy.nysernet.org: icmp_seq=3 ttl=48 time=435 ms 64 bytes from paperboy.nysernet.org: icmp_seq=4 ttl=48 time=405 ms 64 bytes from paperboy.nysernet.org: icmp_seq=5 ttl=48 time=405 ms --- paperboy.nysernet.org ping statistics --- 7 packets transmitted, 7 received, 0% packet loss, time 6000ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 405.284/420.055/450.693/16.838 ms

Tunnel Down?

Sending a few pings outbound does not mean that it actually works. The PoP pings you from outside (check for instance the FAQ about connection tracking which reveals something funny there). Also check your latency graph, the PoP hasn't been able to ping you for the last couple of days. Next to that provide more and more details as requested by the big orange box and also the text pre-filled into the text box: "I have read and followed the "Reporting Problems" section on the Contact page and am providing the following details for this report based on the list of items stated there" That piece of text is there for a reason as we do require details if you want us to help you out.
