Unable to pass traffic to usqas01
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 21 October 2010 04:39:58
I am having issues with connectivity to my tunnel at usqas01. When I set this tunnel up in AICCU it doesn't seem to pass traffic at all. I have tried with my tunnel at usbos01 and had no problems. ======= uname ======= Linux ip-10-203-89-187 2.6.32-308-ec2 #16-Ubuntu SMP Thu Sep 16 15:25:39 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux ============== Traceroute ============== root@purgatory:/etc# traceroute 66.117.47.228 traceroute to 66.117.47.228 (66.117.47.228), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets 1 ip-10-203-88-3.ec2.internal (10.203.88.3) 3.020 ms 2.982 ms 2.967 ms 2 216.182.224.242 (216.182.224.242) 2.942 ms 2.927 ms 216.182.224.246 (216.182.224.246) 9.498 ms 3 216.182.232.70 (216.182.232.70) 2.906 ms 216.182.232.72 (216.182.232.72) 2.869 ms 216.182.232.70 (216.182.232.70) 2.878 ms 4 216.182.232.52 (216.182.232.52) 2.862 ms 2.853 ms 2.836 ms 5 72.21.222.156 (72.21.222.156) 2.825 ms 2.811 ms 72.21.222.64 (72.21.222.64) 2.800 ms 6 72.21.222.156 (72.21.222.156) 2.785 ms 72.21.199.39 (72.21.199.39) 2.405 ms 2.390 ms 7 63-233-113-29.dia.static.qwest.net (63.233.113.29) 3.988 ms 3.978 ms 3.961 ms 8 * dca-edge-22.inet.qwest.net (63.233.113.29) 3.927 ms * 9 * * 65.119.123.198 (65.119.123.198) 8.675 ms 10 209.222.144.164 (209.222.144.164) 5.403 ms 5.384 ms 5.369 ms 11 iad0-sixxs.hotnic.net (66.117.47.228) 4.582 ms 3.742 ms 4.476 ms root@purgatory:/etc# traceroute6 usqas01.sixxs.net traceroute to usqas01.sixxs.net (2001:4830:e6:7::2), 30 hops max, 80 byte packets 1 * * * 2 * * * 3 * * * 4 * * * 5 * * * 6 * * * 7 * * * 8 * * * 9 * * * root@purgatory:/etc# ========== ifconfig ========== root@purgatory:/etc# ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 12:31:3b:09:5a:31 inet addr:10.203.89.187 Bcast:10.203.89.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::1031:3bff:fe09:5a31/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:2208 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:2254 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:224514 (224.5 KB) TX bytes:361062 (361.0 KB) lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B) sixxs Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00 inet6 addr: 2001:4830:1600:1ce::2/64 Scope:Global inet6 addr: fe80::4830:1600:1ce:2/64 Scope:Link UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1280 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:151 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:500 RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:13616 (13.6 KB) root@purgatory:/etc# route -6 Kernel IPv6 routing table Destination Next Hop Flag Met Ref Use If 2001:4830:1600:1ce::/64 :: U 256 0 1 sixxs fe80::/64 :: U 256 0 0 eth0 fe80::/64 :: U 256 0 0 sixxs ::/0 2001:4830:1600:1ce::1 UG 1024 0 155 sixxs ::/0 :: !n -1 1 391 lo ::1/128 :: Un 0 1 5 lo 2001:4830:1600:1ce::2/128 :: Un 0 1 0 lo fe80::1031:3bff:fe09:5a31/128 :: Un 0 1 0 lo fe80::4830:1600:1ce:2/128 :: Un 0 1 0 lo ff00::/8 :: U 256 0 0 eth0 ff00::/8 :: U 256 0 0 sixxs ::/0 :: !n -1 1 391 lo root@purgatory:/etc# Thank you for your help

From your log: 10-10-21 04:13 Moved tunnel T22634 from 75.101.166.208 to ayiya 10-10-21 04:25 Tunnel T22634 to ayiya set city to Asburn 10-10-21 04:39 Posted a message to the forum The problem lies in the fact that PoP updates are not instant. That is why now it does work: 64 bytes from 2001:4830:1600:1ce::2: icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=107 ms

That would explain it then.. It works now.. I only tried to move it to a static to see if it would work as such, and apparently Amazon's firewalls do not allow it. Downside? I am at -3 ISK Thanks!
