MTU problems on chzrh02
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 20 May 2010 09:32:30
After moving from chzrh01 to chzrh02, I am experiencing MTU-like issues. I have not been able to diagnose them fully yet, but I did check the MTU settings all over and found them to be correct. The symptoms are classic though. Could it be that something on the PoP is not configured right?

MTU problems on chzrh02

I found that I need to set the MTU of the sixxs AYIYA-TUN interface to 1350 (1351 won't work) or I would get congestion problems. However, now that I analysed it further, it seems that this is only required when I use Swisscom's public WLAN service. It works fine in my home network, so this bug is really sixxs-independent. Sorry.

Strange, but good to know that. Only assumption I can make is that they publish the wrong MTU size which actually might explain some other weird behaviors. Swisscom is unfortunately rather bad with communicating brokenness though, or for that matter announcing 'features' like SMTP interception and checking, thus I don't expect them to do anything about this either.
