It just won work... Im an end-user on Windows XP SP1 using a University connection I did : ipv6 rtu ::/0 2/::213.204.193.2 pub ipv6 adu 2/2001:960:2:d::2 as written in your FAQ I already tryed that too: ipv6 ifc 2 forw ipv6 ifc 4 forw adv but it still didn work out Ive already been disabled once because I didn manage to make it reply to pings within 10 days, so I need help rapidly !! Does anything HAVE TO be set up on the router (which I can set up) or does anything have to be added to my setup ? Thanx

The XP SP1 version has a somewhat changed interface. Following the Updating IPv6.exe Commands to Netsh Commands document. It would come down to:
C:\> netsh interface ipv6 install C:\> netsh interface ipv6 add v6v4tunnel SixXS [Your IPv4 Endpoint] [POP IPv4 Endpoint] C:\> netsh interface ipv6 add address SixXS [Your IPv6 endpoint] C:\> netsh interface ipv6 add route [Your IPv6 endpoint]/[Prefix Length] SixXS C:\> netsh interface ipv6 add route 0::/0 SixXS
At least... that should do it ;)

No, it still doesn't do the thing :'( Am I doomed or what ?

Could you dump the outputs of: netsh interface ipv6 show route netsh interface ipv6 show address netsh interface ipv6 show interface netsh interface ipv6 show state netsh interface ipv6 show privacy netsh interface ipv6 show destinationcache netsh interface ipv6 show teredo netsh interface ipv6 show neighbors Maybe that reveals an odd setting ;) PS: Use the Code feature [ code ] and [ /code ]

From this I can tell the following problems:
- 6to4 is activated:
netsh interface ipv6 6to4 set state disabled
- Two default routes, the second one is fault:
netsh interface ipv6 delete route ::/0 ::213.204.193.2

Try that and try again, note that sometimes a change
requires one to disable+enable the network card to make them effective.

btw, you might want to turn of the privacy:
netsh interface ipv6 set privacy disabled

I still see 6to4 enabled. You should use:
C:\> netsh interface ipv6 6to4 set state disabled

And if the routes stay, try a reboot.

The tunnel is configured...

it still don't work ... just wondering, do I still have to do
ipv6 rtu ::/0 2/::213.204.193.2 pub ipv6 adu 2/2001:960:2:d::2
? the first one creates the route you told me was too much and the second one adds

to the "show adress" thing and by the way, even if the 6to4 still appears in the config:
C:\>netsh interface ipv6 6to4 show state Etat du service 6to4 : disabled Annuler à l'arrêt du service : default
So It doesn't seem to be used, is it ? If I reboot, the 6to4 state resets to enabled ...

Look at what I found, (I don't know but) maybe we're just seeking for something which just won't go...
Tunneled traffic is not reaching the destination. Cause: Routers or firewalls are dropping IPv4 traffic that has the IP Protocol field value set to 41. Solution: All IPv6 traffic that is encapsulated (tunneled) inside of an IPv4 header has the IPv4 Protocol field in the header set to 41. IPv6 tunneled traffic includes traffic that uses IPv4-compatible addresses, 6over4 addresses, ISATAP addresses, and 6to4 addresses. To allow IPv6 tunneled traffic to be forwarded, configure your routers or firewalls to pass IPv4 traffic that has the Protocol field set to 41.
Do you think that may be the reason ? Tomorrow, I'll go and ask the administrators if it is ...
Win XP setup ...
[ca] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 04 March 2003 18:24:52
The network administrators told me all ports under 1024 are blocked by a firewall... does it play a role ? Which port is used by the tunnel ?
Win XP setup ...
[ch] Jeroen Massar SixXS Staff on Wednesday, 05 March 2003 17:37:04
See Tunnel endpoint didn't ping FAQ entry. It requires proto-41 to be usable. You'd probably be better off to arrange IPv6 for the university by working together with the network admins. Apparently they block ports <1024 to disallow any services running on the network. As that is their policy you should abide it.
