Tunnel for roaming?
[ca] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 24 September 2015 14:30:11
If I plan to roam, with my laptop, what are the recommendations for a Sixxs tunnel? Would I better off using Teredo? I didn't see anything in the FAQ on this subject.

Can you elaborate what you exactly mean with "roaming"?

Certainly. While I am generally based in Montreal, I am likely to travel to other places in Canada and in Europe. If I am establishing a tunnel straight from laptop, it would typically be the one nearest to my main location, but if I travel that may put me further from my PoP. For this reason, I am wondering whether using Teredo in this scenario, would be better that a Sixxs tunnel, unless there is already some provision?

Canada
Use the same tunnel as in Canada.
Europe
Request a tunnel for the country you are visiting. Typically the PoP operator restricts the endpoints to the same country. This reduces latency but also transit costs.

As there are only few Teredo relays left and connectivity is typically bad, you will not enjoy much using it.
