Fedora Core - no echo reply
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 09 July 2004 16:54:34
I just tried to set up a pop conn. on my Linux machine running with Fedora Core 1 - Kernel 2.6.7. I would say I did evrything right concerning configuration, but when i try to ping the POP nothing comes back. "tcpdump -i sit1 ip6" shows me that the echo request goes out, but there's no reaction at all. Here comes the c&p of routingtable and ifconfig: route -A inet6 (sorry for the german table headers ;) ): Ziel Nächster Hop Flags Metric Ref Benutzer Iface ::1/128 * U 0 16 0 lo 2001:6f8:900:2c1::/128 * U 0 0 0 lo cl-XXX.ham-01.de.sixxs.net/128 * U 0 4 0 lo (cl-XXX.ham-01.de.sixxs.net/128 = my local IP) 2001:6f8:900:2c1::/64 * U 256 12 0 sit1 2000::/3 gw-XXX.ham-01.de.sixxs.net UG 1 15 0 sit1 (gw-XXX.ham-01.de.sixxs.net = the POP GW) fe80::/128 * U 0 0 0 lo fe80::8d1c:e4c7/128 * U 0 12 0 lo fe80::210:5aff:feef:9ec0/128 * U 0 108 0 lo fe80::/64 * U 256 0 0 eth0 fe80::/64 * U 256 0 0 sit1 ff00::/8 * U 256 0 0 eth0 ff00::/8 * U 256 0 0 sit1 -------------------------- ifconfig: eth0 Protokoll:Ethernet Hardware Adresse 00:10:5A:EF:9E:C0 inet Adresse:141.28.XXX.XXX Bcast:141.28.XXX.XXX Maske:255.255.255.0 inet6 Adresse: fe80::210:5aff:feef:9ec0/64 Gültigkeitsbereich:Verbindu ng UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:13742 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:8093 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:1000 RX bytes:2161629 (2.0 Mb) TX bytes:3523109 (3.3 Mb) Interrupt:5 Basisadresse:0xa400 lo Protokoll:Lokale Schleife inet Adresse:127.0.0.1 Maske:255.0.0.0 inet6 Adresse: ::1/128 Gültigkeitsbereich:Maschine UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:56 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:56 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:0 RX bytes:5484 (5.3 Kb) TX bytes:5484 (5.3 Kb) sit1 Protokoll:IPv6-nach-IPv4 inet6 Adresse: 2001:6f8:900:2c1::X/64 Gültigkeitsbereich:Global inet6 Adresse: fe80::8d1c:e4c7/64 Gültigkeitsbereich:Verbindung UP PUNKTZUPUNKT RUNNING NOARP MTU:1480 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:35 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 Kollisionen:0 Sendewarteschlangenlänge:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:4340 (4.2 Kb) ------------------------ as you can see the request goes out over the right if (TX bytes:4340 (4.2 Kb)) but I really don't know why there's no answer. My standard IPv4 gateway can't be the problem neither, because there are other people in my subnet using sixxs :/ Thx for your help in advance!

And what does your eth0 show when sending packets? aka tcpdump it as mentioned in the Reporting Problems list.
