IPv6 virtual network on top of facebook
[be] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 21 February 2009 01:21:34
Facebook is plenty of stupid applications, but there is an interesting one that just appeared: IPv6 over Facebook. The idea is to create a virtual IPv6 network over the facebook social network; each user enabling the application has a virtual router, with an associated IPv6 address, and can connect to friends that use the same application. The routes are updated with RIP, and an IOS-like interface is being made to configure it. Very geeky indeed :) There is even a gateway to real IPv6, and pings and traceroutes are possible (however, expect very high latencies on the virtual part; we are talking minutes or even hours here :D ) The idea is however quite nice
