delete unused tunnel & subnet
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 11 October 2008 13:39:55
Hi guys, I recently requested and got approved a new tunnel + subnet on a pop which is a lot closer to me than the old one. My question now, what to do with the old tunnel + subnet. Since I have no further need for it I'd like to delete them. The problem is: deletion of subnet & tunnel debits 75 ISK if I understand the FAQ correctly. Is there any possibility to avoid this? I just want to free the "ressources" to let others be able to use them. TIA chris

Those high fees only go into effect when a tunnel/subnet is deleted without due cause. In most cases it is free though. The main reason for the high fees is to discourage people from requesting a tunnel/subnet and then throwing it away again, which is a great technique for covering tracks if one abused the tunnel/subnet. The problem there is of course that we don't directly re-allocate the tunnel/subnet, and thus it is more or less wasted.
