issue with sixxs ipv6 gate -> specific hostname does not work
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 14 May 2008 00:08:06
Hi,... i'm not sure if it's related to the ipv6 gate, but all my hostnames with an AAAA (www, mail and so on) are working fine. Except for the hostname "ftp", this name doesn't work over the sixxs gate. (http prot.) "SixXS IPv4Gate: 404 Could not gateway IPv4->IPv6: couldn't connect to host" It's the same machine as for "www" or "mail". Native ipv6 access works fine on this machine. Any ideas? best regards Stefan --

Hi, me again. ;-) Just found out, that the gate connects via "ftp://" not "http://", when the hostname! (3rd. Level from my view) is "ftp". (e.g.: http://ftp.myproudserver.top.ipv4.sixxs.org/) Maybe someone take a look at this...? best regards Stefan --

I just tested with ftp.netbsd.org which has an IPv6 address, and it is running both an ftp and http servers: works: ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/ works: http://ftp.netbsd.org/ works: http://ftp.netbsd.org.ipv4.sixxs.org/ Note that both http queries return the same display. I tested this with Firefox 3 beta 5, on MacOS X 10.5. My local computer does have IPv6 connectivity.

Hi,... i dont know, if anyone take a hand on it. The behaver changed now. Now the gate connects only with http-requests. Any ftp request from the ipv4 side failed to connect. Which would be fine, as i read in the webpage: <quote>Only port 80 (default HTTP port) is supported.</quote> Everything seems ok. Thanks best regards Stefan --
