ticinocom Ipv6 problem while sixxs works fine
[ch] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 29 November 2011 15:47:06
Hi, ticino.com started to dish IPv6 out natively, which is great. My fritz.box receives and displays the IPv6 it received. However, I have problems accessing any ipv6 sites with it, e.g. ping6 times out and accessing websites leads to completely blank and empty pages (haven't tried to wget any yet). However, using a ipv6 tunnel on my Fritz.box router, Ipv6 works just fine. Has anyone similar experiences? Should I start digging at the router level, or any deeper? Thanks in advance, Sebastian

ping6 says: From 2001:4b00:112:3:be05:43ff:fe64:1f46 icmp_seq=1 Destination unreachable: Unknown code 5 wget -6 heise.de says: Connecting to heise.de|2a02:2e0:3fe:100::8|:80... failed: Protocol error. What's that supposed to be?

While the SixXS forums are not a real place to complain about non-SixXS ISP routing it is a a place to help you diagnose it. Ping6/wget etc don't say much. What you want to do in this situation is do a traceroute as that will show the path over which the packets flow. You will want to send the output of that to your provider though and likely they will resolve the matter. I am unable to reach 2001:4b00:112:3:be05:43ff:fe64:1f46 from various locations on the internet though From Geneva: 6 ge3-2.br01.gva252.ip-max.net (2a02:2528:2:1::2) 23.9 ms 24.319 ms 23.613 ms 7 2001:7f8:24::1a (2001:7f8:24::1a) 48.523 ms 30.079 ms 30.454 ms 8 2001:4b00:ffff:6::1 (2001:4b00:ffff:6::1) 29.949 ms 29.71 ms 29.831 ms 9 * *^C Thus I think they have misconfigured something at the moment, better to call them up.
