Default route and 2.4.21 (Linux)
[nl] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 30 July 2003 13:55:55
I am using native IPv6 for one some colocated machines. On 2.4.19 kernels I can add the default route with no pain: route add 2000::/0 gw 2001:828:102:a:: However, on 2.4.21 this fails with a "Invalid argument" as error message. I googled, but the only thing I could find is to set the default gateway to an interface. But that does not work (ofcourse). Anyone has an idea how to set a default IPv6 route on Linux 2.4.21?

The default route should go to <prefix>::1/64 as shown in the emails and on the configuration site in your user home. The only tunnels having 'problems' with the fact that linux suddenly implemented anycast addressing and nobody read the release notes are on the IPng POP. As these use a /127 from the time that such use was still normal and there where no standards about /64's per link. You might also want to check out this forum and especially the setup forum where you will find a number of 2.4.21 threads.
