e.f.f.3.ip6.arpa reverse-lookup on ipng.nl-tunnel
[at] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 25 June 2003 17:27:50
Hi since the new draft (http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ymbk-6bone-arpa-delegation-01.txt, also http://www.sixxs.net/forum/?msg=news-34766) says it's now save to use ip6.arpa for reverse-lookups on the 6Bone, are there any changes made in the zone-behaviour of tunnel-providers like ipng.nl or will they still use ip6.int for the reverse DNS-resolution? Maybe they solve the problem in another way, since they may change their net from 6BONE to real ipv6-space like 2001:: ... Any comments on that? regards, Martin

As long as the politics still haven't been worked out we cannot provide the reverse delegation unfortunatly. The moment that the ip6.arpa reverse delegation is put in place the reverses in ip6.int will automatically be also be available in ip6.arpa due to some nice mirroring tricks which are on stand by but only need to be activated. Also there is little to no chanche that we will move from 6bone to RIPE space on the IPng POP, it will stick to the 6bone space at least until 6-6-2006.
