Sluggish performance on AICCU compared to static?
[se] Shadow Hawkins on Sunday, 28 March 2010 14:21:36
Hey, I just have a question, is the performance over AICCU/AYIYA supposed to be that much lower than on a static tunnel? I had some trouble getting my static tunnel to work under OpenWRT backfire rc1. So i switched to AYIYA and the performance dropped from getting around 80 - 90 Mbit/sec through the static tunnel towards for example ftp.sunet.se down to around 20Mbit/sec. If this is the case then i will surely make an effort to get my static tunnel back online instead. Anyone has any ideas? Thanks Lars

AYIYA mode works inside userspace while the usual static setup uses an in-kernel tunnel driver. I noticed higher CPU usage with AYIYA, so I switched my dynamic tunnel to heartbeat, which also uses an in-kernel tunnel and uses almost no CPU. Try 'heartbeat' before going back to static.

It worked perfectly! Thank you so much for the tip! Now i'm back up to around 90Mbit/sec again. :-]
