Will multicast come to deham01?
[de] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 27 July 2004 12:26:16
Hi, are there any plans to support IPv6 multicast on deham01? Are there technical or are there policy problems which prevent that? It does not hurry as I can't use ecmh yet because the tunnel endpoint is running FreeBSD. But it would be nice to know if something is planned. BTW: Are there any reasons why the experimental pops are no longer connected to the m6bone? Alexander Feigl

Technically: a) there is no multicast connectivity to that POP. b) there is no ecmh yet for *BSD. Policy: The POPs owner need to allow it. There where some POPs very temporarily and partially connected to m6bone but the belgian box which provided that went away. Unfortunatly as m6bone consists majorily of research networks getting connectivity is quite hard for the commercial ISP's that predominantly participate in SixXS.
