Radio.Unfix - Alternative IPv6 Multicast Radio
[ch] Jeroen Massar SixXS Staff on Friday, 13 February 2004 23:47:20
Using IPv6 Multicast everybody with at least 128kbit/s upstream can start their own Internet Radio Station with an unlimited amount of possible endusers who are listening to your radio! For this I have created Radio.Unfix, a simple RTP Multicast IPv6 streamer that gets it's next song from a MySQL database, either from a votequeue or random when that votequeue is empty. Adding a small PHP frontend and a gathering mechanism for indexing the mp3's into the database et voila one full blown Internet Radio system with voting capability. Website: Radio.Unfix As mentioned in the FAQ the software for this will be out as soon as it is deemed stable enough and packaged correctly.

How's the progress going? My guess is anything beats having to run two icecast2 daemons because Icecast can't handle separate domainnames in the .m3u/.ogg index files, and Some Very Known Browser From Washington State doesn't support MIME all too well.

about that icecast2, use different mountpoints for each. like http://ultrasuperhypermageinternetradio.net:8000/classic and http://ultrasuperhypermageinternetradio.net:8000/techno.ogg. also, you could do somedomain.com as cname for example http://ultrasuperhypermageinternetradio.net:8000/techno.ogg ... and with some tweaking to icecast2 source, you can do it use specific ipv6 address.

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into it, although Jeroen's streamer is more interesting, techwise :).
