Firefox - V6 doesn't work
[nl] Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 01 May 2004 16:40:58
Hey, my Mozilla Firefox 0.8 under win32 doesn't appear to be able to connect to ipv6-only hosts. When i visit sixxs, it connects through ipv4, and when i try to force ipv6 (by visiting www.ipv6.sixxs.net i get a DNS error. (Not found. Please check the host and try again). The odd thing is, it works just fine in IE, which i don't want to use for obvious reasons. Can't seem to find anything on this on the net, other than that it should just work. I'm not using a proxy by the way. Anyone have any experience with this?

IPv6 is borked in the Windows Firefox 0.8 release, download a nightly build or wait for 0.9 wich will be released any day now (tm). Or use Opera or Mozilla....

Hmm.. Must be a win2k-only problem then, it's working fine with a friend :) Thanks, i'll grab a nightly.

I think win2k is indeed the problem. Under XP (and FreeBSD) mozilla 1.6 and 1.7 work fine with me. Under 2000 both versions didn't work when a site had both an ipv4 and ipv6 address :?

Hmm... Got the latest firefox nightly: didn't work. Grabbed the latest Mozilla nightly: didn't work. Oh well, i'll just wait for 0.9 and hope they've resolved this by then :)

Hm, both Firefox and Mozilla IPv6 work fine for me in Windows XP. I gues the non-support IPv6 implementation in Windows 2000 is somewhat borked... Just out of curiosity, have you tried using the IPv6 address directly?

http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/sdks/platform/tpipv6/faq.asp Read and follow that page - everything runs fine for me under Windows 2000 SP4 since I installed that Tech Preview.
