Various questions about Dnsmasq
I only used Dnsmasq briefly for name resolution. I don't know if it will bind to an IPv6 interface. Although not intended to be a zone server, it as the ability to configure it to answer for specified addresses so you can name your local machines that aren't reachable via the global DNS system. I don't know if you can specify IPv6 addresses for that feature. I believe its DHCP capability is for IPv4 only, but a nifty feature is that it will resolve names for its own DHCP clients; I doubt a similar feature is available for IPv6. But there is a lot of uncertainty in this paragraph; if you know, please update the article. If you've migrated to IPv6 using Dnsmasq, please consider writing up a Case Experience and linking to it from the article. JNN2-SIXXS 03:30, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Can Dnsmasq query IPv6-based name servers?
I realized today that I haven't tested to see if any of my resolver caches can contact an IPv6-only name server. In practical terms this is not immediately important, but it is important in the scope of an IPv6-only network. I am not able to test this immediately. JNN2-SIXXS 02:34, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
